Inside Out Golf Swing: Can Eliminate Slice

Considering the golf swing is the hardest part of the game to master, learning to control the ball when it is smacked off the tee is even tougher. Years of experimenting and practice has failed to yield a consistent method to drive the long ball straight. However, an inside out golf swing can cut down on the tee shots caroming off to the right.

By an inside out golf swing there is no reference to swinging the club towards your ankle and at the last minute head to the ball, rather it involves the take away and the first three feet of the swing.

Most weekend golfers will head out to the driving range and try to hit the ball as hard as they can to see if they can out-drive their golfing buddies on the Sunday afternoon duffer¡¯s league instead of practicing an inside out golf swing to reduce their slice. On an 18-hole, par 72 golf course you will usually find four par-three holes and a couple of doglegs, which means you will swing your driver a maximum of 14 times. It does not make sense to hit 72 practice balls with that one club.

Keep Hands Behind the Club Head

When a new golfer addresses the ball and begins the take away, they generally will pull the club back with their left arm only, instead of both arms, causing the club to drift slight inside and their hands will be in front of the club. On the downswing, with benefit of the inside out golf swing the club will drift outwards and the person will attempt to adjust the swing to bring it back in causing the club head to slice across the ball, outside to inside, putting enough sideways rotation on the ball to have it act like a boomerang.

When using an inside out golf swing your hands should never be in front of the club on the backswing and on rarely on impact if you are attempting a fade or cut shot. This technique allows the club to travel the same plane coming down as it did going up and will bring the club face square to the ball upon impact.

Working on the inside out golf swing can be used on just about every club in your arsenal but particularly with the short irons as it will help you get closer to the pin and eliminate those 40-foot puts through two gullies and multiple modulations on the green that you cannot read anyway.
