I see, it looks like you’ve got the most understanding in this, but theoretaccly when the diff is sensing loss of grip it? engages all wheel drive{?}

Reply

darkpill May 18, 2012 at 8:58 am

It’s not “all wheel drive” in it’s true sense. It uses a Haldex? system, which means it’s only part time all wheel drive.

they should’ve stuck with the VR6 motor and slapped a turbo on. a VR6 turbo would kick that 2.0T ass? any day of the weak.

A 6 cylinder is only a number, this 4 is actually impressive, the size of the car only needs a 4 turbo. The light weight small car? can push top speeds easy as good as a 6 because its agile and light.

Really, why didn’t Mr. Lago (automotive journalist) do his homework? Why isn’t? he passing this great bit of knowledge on to the masses???

Reply

autoideas May 18, 2012 at 11:07 am

Why? are so many automotive journalists so upset about not being able to turn off the stability control? A “R” car IMHO can be refined… and keeping the cost higher means that most buyers at this price point will be happy to keep the stability control on anyway, not many 20 somethings going to buy this car, and VW knows that; let those crazy boys go buy the STI and EVO’s and crash the japanese cars to bits, leaving the Golf R intact and running just fine at track days, keeing novices safe!

Lexus = Toyota = Japanese Cadillac. Sorry Wang but the fact is Lexus’s although decent, are just boring cars. Including the LFA. So don’t try to use that as a comeback. Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche have the $2,000,000 plus Bugatti, and Porsche is already working? on a $2,000,000 plus car. Rendering Lexus irrelavant yet again. ; D

Wrrrrrrong again Rrrrrroberto Super GTI and Super Golf R, + Audi TT = One tripple penetrated raped H.Y.U.N.D.A.I. Sorry to break u bro but Hyundais are cheap plastic pieces of junk. They are irrelevant garbage. Only broke ass people drive those. Not making fun of your income status I’m just saying what is a fact. Don’t worry though one day when u pay it? off u can sell it! ; D

RicersRSilly May 18, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Ummm No Rrrrrrroberto, Hyundai’s are shitty like JDM’s. Stop hating and accept the realistic fact that Audi’s Shine and whip any Hyundai, any time. Audi TT RS with recalibrated twin turbo, Blitz exhaust, remapped ECU, etc. = 0-60 in less than? 3 seconds flat. Now that =’s Bye Bye Shitty Spirra/Hyundai. ;D

What the manual doesn’t say about the US model is that ESC can be turned off by press and hold the button for a few seconds. A short press to the button only deactivate traction control. ?

Put a Shitty Audi TT RS next to a? Spirra EX with a V6 twin turbo Hyundai engine, 500hp, 0-60 in 3.2 sec.

Nice review, and echo’s the sentiments of many. Not much faster than a gti, with a much? higher price. I want to LOVE this car, but just can’t. Hope the MK7 works this out.

Reply

FlexRocker22 May 18, 2012 at 6:29 pm

This car should have? close to 300hp at that price. VW was right to get rid of the 6 cylinder, but instead of going to a 4 cylinder turbo they should have put a turbo 5 cylinder under the hood. A 280-300hp version of the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder turbo found in the Audi TT RS would be perfect. It would make up for the loss of the sweet exhaust note the R32 has, cut some weight and get better mpg’s than the VR6. And please, it’s an insult to the U.S. market when you can’t turn off stability control

Reply

happyyam May 18, 2012 at 6:32 pm

You can. They just don’t realized that you need to press and hold the button for a few good seconds to disable stability control. A short press to the button only disable traction control. ?

Great video mark, I have been weighing up between the ping i20 and g20 as my new set. I hit them at a range recently and felt the g’s fet Faron striking the ground and the i’s felt very crisp. ? Is that a feature of the think sole clubs? I hit the ball fairly high already so would the i’s be the go?

Seems like all of those had a mid to a? low flight trajectory at best. Apex when tour pros hit their irons are are around 80-90 feet.

Reply

neova2 May 18, 2012 at 9:09 pm

Mark, what about the workability of hitting fades or draws? I have always thought that with the hotter faces of the game improvement irons it will? be more difficult? Also what about the distance control amongst the 3 types of long irons? I’m thinking the pro combo might be the best balance between workability and distance control?

Reply

Haylen311 May 18, 2012 at 9:33 pm

why did you not hit low punch shots with the blades?

i think that club may allow? you to control your shots more in the wind…

Reply

chumpglows May 18, 2012 at 10:13 pm

i think a big part of hitting satisfying shots is the feel of the strike, the sound, and the appearance of your clubs at address, so even if a big headed game improvement cavity back was going to take 1 or 2 strokes off my game i might still consider it not worth the sacrifice in terms of appearance, sound, feel etc Everyone? will have their own priorities on that one.

javisbar428 May 18, 2012 at 11:12 pm

Mark do? you think that the Ping i20 irons combine the larger cavity/sole long irons and blade like short irons?

Reply

UADRFC1 May 18, 2012 at 11:20 pm

mark just out of interest what was the distances??? similar or did you get a bit more out of any specific one ????

JMRTNG May 18, 2012 at 11:43 pm

I know they do not have the workability of an iron… but what about most golfers changing their long irons for the hybrid clubs?? I carry a 3 and 4 hybrid for the longer Par 5s that I play on, as well as a second tee off when my driver and 3w are not coming in. But I also carry a TM Burner 2.0 4 iron as well.

Another great alternative: Ping i20 irons..progressive set so you get the high launch/forgiveness in the 4/5/6,? and then the thinner look and control in the 7/8/9/PW.

I think from past videos he has the Titleist 910 D3 Driver, Titleist 910 F (3? wood), Titleist910 H Hybrid, Mizuno MP 53 irons with graphite shafts, Titleist Vokey wedges and….sorry, unsure of the putter. The 910 D3 Driver may have recently been replaced with the Nike Pro Limited Edition Forged Driver. Hope this appeases a little of the curiosity 🙂

Can you do the same kind of video comparing to distance?? I use the wilson staff ci9 irons and they just seem to not go anywhere…maybe I need a bigger more powerful sole?
